Fly Friday #92 The Caddis Live Cycle

This weeks Fly Friday is from PRO Team member Thomas Zullich, it's the Caddis Live Cycle.

Caddis - These insects make a huge part of the trouts diet. Here up in the North one can observe that trout and char do prefer to hunt on them even with a mayfly hatch present at the same time. Specifically in summer nights. I suspect it is because of the movement. Caddis do travel a bit more obvious in the water than mayflies.

The picture shows three of my favored patterns. The adult dry fly (Seal & Deer Caddis), the pupa (Real Caddis Pupa) and the caddis nymph (Real Caddis Larva). The preferred hook for these flies are either the CZ, CZF or the Klinkhamer. I was very happy to hear that the Klinkhamer model is available in barbless too now.
